This is the beginning of what I hope will be a rich, rewarding search in the creation of beauty and the joy that comes in the process …

I’m currently a frumpy, middle aged man with a wonderful family, a nice house and a new cabin on the top of a mountain. I have a good job, making a decent income maintaining computer systems that help others take care of animals. All in all, I have a good life.

But I miss my younger, creative past when I was less bulky, more hopeful, more idealistic and (to be fair) more frustrated. I’m looking toward my next career – the one in which I will finish my working life. I want that career to be more like the one I planned when I was in school. One where I can explore and create. Where I can build things that will enrich other people when they come across them. Maybe make them smile, or just feel something.

Things that maybe will still be around after I’m gone.

This is the record of the preparation, and hopefully someday, the achievement of that new stage of my life.
